Gary the Cilantro #1

DAY TWO:
Our original plan was to grow cilantro, but they ran out so we are growing mint instead!! Our original variables were ladybugs and cilantro. We unfortunately did not have the opportunity to add ladybugs into our hydroponic bucket. During our first day, we assembled the bucket and planted the mint. During our second day, we calculated the temperature (20 degrees C), pH (6), phosphate (2ppm), and nitrates (40ppm).

DAY THREE:
Today we noticed that the other plants in our class were dying and that our mint looked pretty healthy. Our mint looked nice and green, and were continuing to grow. It has only grown on one side of the bucket and we hope that it expands to the other side. The mints are getting enough water based on their condition.

  3. I really enjoy how you compare your plant to other plants! It really helps with understanding how well it is growing.

  4. It is very interesting how only 1 side of the mint is growing! Maybe the water is not getting distributed evenly which causes lack of nutrients as well.

  6. Could it only be growing on one side due to light? Maybe if you rotate the bucket the plants will spread out.

  7. Good job on keeping your plant alive. Hope your plant reaches to the other side of your bucket like you said. I think thats a good goal to have. Adding nutrients is always a good idea if you want your plant to grow and stay healthy. Keep doing a great job!

  8. I really like your positive attitudes. I hope that your plant becomes stronger and grows. Maybe try adding in more nutrients, and try keeping track of how much water your plant needs to grow healthy and strong. Keep up the good work!

  9. I wonder what is keeping your mint alive as opposed to the other plants? I hope it continues to prosper!
